Thane:
A 72-year-old girl was assaulted and robbed of gold ornaments allegedly by a person who got here to her home in Thane’s Mira-Bhayander space posing as an electrician, a police official mentioned on Friday.
The incident befell two days in the past, Naya Nagar police station senior inspector Amar Jagdale mentioned.
“Round 9pm, accused Mohammad Salim Choudhary entered the lady’s home claiming he was an electrician. He barged in, held her captive, beat her up and stole her gold ornaments. The woman narrated her ordeal to kin subsequent day, who approached police,” Jagdale mentioned.
Mohammad Salim Choudhary was arrested quickly after and has been charged with theft and different offences underneath Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official added.
A relative of the lady advised reporters she lived alone and was affected by varied illnesses.
“The person had come to the home the pretext of labor, then returned within the night time to commit the crime. He advised the lady he want the gold ornaments to pay for the therapy of his ailing mom and that he would return it in two months,” the relative mentioned.
