On Saturday, Chief Minister Lalduhoma mentioned the Assam Rifles will begin transferring out of the Aizawl headquarters in April to a base in Zokhawsang, about 15 km from town. He mentioned a memorandum of settlement (MoA) was signed at Mizoram Home in New Delhi on Wednesday.  

The signatories to the settlement are Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner and Secretary to the Authorities of Mizoram, and Lieutenant Basic Vikas Lakhera, the Director Basic of Assam Rifles. 

Mr Lalduhoma mentioned the MoA will come into impact from April 1, 2025, and building of some services at Zokhawsang is but to be accomplished.

The chief minister added that the Authorities of Mizoram can pay a depreciated value to Assam Rifles by April 2025 and all of the locations handed over by the drive to the state can be reserved for public functions below the Mizoram (Restriction on Use of Transferred Land) Act, 2022.
