Many state-run universities in Tamil Nadu are starved of funds and are in a dire monetary disaster and unable to pay salaries to lecturers, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi stated on Saturday.

Their autonomy has been “severely eroded to such an extent that it was not the college syndicates however the state Secretariat that runs the varsities,” the Governor alleged.

“Greater Schooling state of affairs in Tamil Nadu is not any higher. About 25 lakh college students are enrolled in our 20 state universities.
