28 Staff, Caught After Half Of UP’s Kannauj Railway Station Collapsed, Rescued

The rescue operation on the Kannauj Railway Station following a constructing collapse concluded Sunday morning with rescuers pulling out 28 staff safely after a 16-hour-long operation although the evening, officers stated. They stated all of the rescued staff have been admitted to a hospital for therapy. No fatalities have been reported.

The shuttering of the under-construction constructing on the station premises had collapsed Saturday afternoon, trapping the employees.

The rescue groups, together with personnel from the nationwide and state catastrophe response drive and the railways, labored by the chilly evening to clear the particles and safely pull out the trapped staff.

District Justice of the Peace Shubhrant Kumar Shukl visited the positioning early on Sunday, expressing reduction that no lives have been misplaced within the tragic incident.

CCTV footage from the positioning has surfaced, displaying a labourer making an attempt to repair the shuttering (a short lived construction used to assist concrete) when the roof collapses. The footage suggests {that a} beam carried by the employee hit the shuttering, inflicting it to slide and in the end collapse.

The North Jap Railway (NER) on Saturday shaped a three-member committee to research the reason for the collapse. The committee will embody the Chief Engineer for Planning and Design, the Extra Divisional Railway Supervisor (Izzatnagar) and the Chief Safety Commissioner of the Railway Safety Power.

The development was being carried out as a part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and City Transformation (AMRUT), aimed toward enhancing the infrastructure of Kannauj Railway Station.

NER officers have introduced ex gratia for the injured staff: Rs 50,000 for these with minor accidents and as much as Rs 2.5 lakh for these with severe accidents.
