Sagar Island:
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who will probably be visiting Sagar Island in South 24 Parganas district on Monday to supervise the preparedness for the annual Gangasagar Mela, will felicitate 95 fishermen from the state who had been not too long ago launched from a jail in neighbouring Bangladesh, an official stated.
There’s a excessive chance that the fishermen, who had been arrested between October and November for intruding into Bangladesh’s waters, will probably be given some compensation by the chief minister throughout the felicitation programme, he stated.
“The chief minister will felicitate the fishermen who’ve been launched by the Bangladesh authorities. Most of them are from Kakdwip whereas some are from Namkhana within the district,” the official instructed PTI.
The district administration has already taken all initiatives and the stage has been set close to the helipad in Sagar Island.
The 95 fishermen had been delivered to Sagar Island on Sunday night, he added.
