The Jharkhand authorities on Sunday mentioned 11 of the 47 staff stranded in Cameroon in central Africa have been delivered to the state and efforts have been underway for the secure return of the remaining labourers.
The event comes after the state authorities filed FIRs in opposition to a Mumbai-based agency and a few middlemen for alleged non-payment of wages to 47 staff from the state, who have been caught within the African nation.
“Eleven out of 47 migrant staff from Jharkhand, stranded in Cameroon, have been delivered to the state as per directions from Chief Minister Hemant Soren. All the employees have been despatched to their properties by the Labour Division. The return of the remaining 36 staff can be being ensured,” a press release from the chief minister’s secretariat mentioned.
Earlier this month, the labour commissioner had filed the FIRs at Hazaribag, Bokaro and Giridih police stations in opposition to middlemen and employers following a path from Soren who had obtained complaints that these staff didn’t obtain their wages for 3 months.
After the federal government took motion, the method to make cost of wages to the employees was initiated, the assertion mentioned.
“The management room crew has been constantly contacting the officers, the corporate and staff by e-mail and telephone, and the full excellent quantity of Rs 39.77 lakh has been paid to the employees,” the assertion mentioned.
It alleged that the employers and middlemen despatched these staff to Cameroon with out registering them beneath the Inter-State Migrant Staff (Regulation of Employment and Circumstances of Service) Act, 1979, and with out acquiring the required licence.
The employees drew the eye of the CM for non-payment of their wages for 3 months, following which the State Migrant Management Room contacted the employees and the employers.
The state authorities has sought the contract and wage particulars of the employees, moreover different paperwork.
Efforts have been being made to make sure the secure return of staff and the Ministry of Exterior Affairs has been knowledgeable about it, the assertion added.
