A video of Indian Navy and Coast Guard personnel rescuing passengers of a ferry that sank close to Mumbai after colliding with a naval speedboat exhibits individuals shouting for assist because the boat slowly goes beneath water.
13 individuals have been killed and 99 have been rescued. The navy craft whose engine was on a trial run misplaced management and collided with the passenger ferry that was going from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Island, a vacationer spot.
“Search and Rescue efforts have been instantly launched by the Navy in coordination with the Coast Guard and Marine Police. 4 naval helicopters, 11 naval craft, one Coast Guard boat and three Marine Police boats have been concerned within the rescue efforts,” the Navy mentioned.
“The survivors picked up by Navy and civil craft within the space have been transferred to jetties and hospitals within the neighborhood. Thus far 99 survivors have been rescued,” it added.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis advised reporters in Nagpur that 101 individuals have been rescued. He mentioned he was deeply saddened by the lack of valuable lives within the collision between the passenger ferry and the Indian Navy craft.
Mr Fadnavis declared monetary help of Rs 5 lakh to the households of those that died within the accident.
