Beef ban in Assam: The Assam authorities has determined to ban serving and consumption of beef in eating places, accommodations and public locations, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma introduced on Wednesday (December 4).
A choice was made throughout a state cupboard assembly to amend the present regulation on beef consumption, with the purpose of incorporating new provisions.
Beef is not going to be served in any restaurant or resort in Assam
“In Assam, we’ve got determined that beef is not going to be served in any restaurant or resort and likewise it is not going to be served in any public perform or public place, so from right now we’ve got fully determined to cease the consumption of beef in accommodations, eating places and public locations. Earlier our resolution was to cease consuming beef close to temples however now we’ve got expanded it to the complete state that you simply won’t be able to eat it in any neighborhood place, public place, resort or restaurant,” CM Sarma stated.
The Assam Cattle Preservation Act of 2021 already prohibits the slaughter and sale of cattle for beef in areas primarily inhabited by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs. Moreover, it restricts such actions inside a five-kilometre radius of temples or satras (Vaishnavite monasteries).
